Jesus made it!

On Easter, I seem to always ponder what it must have been like for Mary Magdalene to have returned to the tomb.  We hear in the scripture stories that she was one of the women at the base of the cross as Jesus died, who watched as he was placed in a tomb and returns there later, taking perfumed oils after his death.  The story continues that when she arrives, she finds an empty tomb and no body.  How scared in addition to her sadness she must have felt over the loss of her loved one.  So she probably just started to walk away crying, her eyes so full of tears that she could not see clearly.
But then as he has done so many times before, he wipes away every tear from her eyes and allows her to see him clearly, in an unexpected way and place.  Full of life, as a garden in spring, she finds him alive, talking to her; asking her to continue on in a spirit of love sharing the good news of the resurrection.  Overjoyed, she goes to tell the others.
Easter is the day we are reminded that “Jesus made it!”  He conquered death and come back to tell everyone of a place like a garden, full of life and full of love that does exist.  In stretching out his hands between heaven and earth, was able to miraculously touch both places at one time.
This is the place where we find ourselves during this Easter Season; a place where if we, like Mary Magdalene, clear our eyes can see new life, in our world, in the people we meet every day and in declaring to them that Jesus is the way, the truth and the life; if we wipe away the things that blind us we can catch a glimpse of both heaven and earth and we are alive to tell about it.
