Don't Miss An Opportunity to Witness

This week I had the blessing of being able to represent the Diocese of Cleveland at the National Conference of Catechetical Leaders (NCCL) by presenting at a workshop for a White Paper that I submitted earlier on the topic of The New Evangelization and the Transmission of the Faith.  The focus on my paper was the idea that every person is able to be a witness through their own experience by simply reflecting regularly on their relationship with God, with Jesus Christ and with one another through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Inside of each of us are resides three evangelization stories in various time increments.  We each have a 30 second ,3 minute, and a 30 minute version of their faith experience.  The 30 second version will generally be used for people in passing, or for a quick question in an elevator.  The 3 minute version works well in brief encounters, passing at the mall, or in the checkout line at the grocery store.  The 30 minute version is generally used for associates, close friends or relatives looking for genuine answers to questions about the faith.

God puts people in our paths, at the right place and at the right time so that we can do his work by sharing our witness.   The important thing is that we do not miss an opportunity to share our witness.  When someone asks about faith, it is our opportunity to share.  God wants to use us.  Let’s take the opportunity to be Christ’s witnesses.
